Bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic grey seals and a variety of bird life, together with a stunningly beautiful coastline and spectacular sea caves make Cardigan Bay truly “A Bay To Remember”
Great trip today with dolphins sighted just east of Cardigan Island and plenty of seals around Cemaes Head. A short video (and I mean short) below shows a pod of 3 - 4 heading right for us!

Dolphins & Seal Pups
A blustery morning but southerly winds mean't it was nice and flat whilst past Cardigan bar. Cardigan Island was pretty quiet on the bird front so we headed down towards Mwnt and came across a pod of 5-6 dolphins approximately 1/3rd way there, quite close to the shore. Initially one youngster jumped clean out of the water a couple of times which was what attracted our attention to them. We moved closer before coming to a standstill and thankfully they moved toward us and we were treated to some really close encounters with 4 or 5 surfacing only 2 or 3 metres away from us. After 5 minutes they moved further out and we decided to leave them in peace. When we got to Cemaes Head we saw 2 possibly 3 seal pups on the 1st small beach around the headland so we stopped and watched from a distance. We then carried on to our usual seal beach and although there were none hauled out, there were plenty in the water.

Dolphins, Seals and Scattering of Ashes at Sea
Dolphins sighted on 2 trips this afternoon. Money Penny and her calf were seen again near Mwnt on the first trip and together with 2 other adults they stayed with us for 10-15 minutes. The 2 adults were sighted again, albeit briefly on the 2nd trip, a little closer to Mwnt this time. Plently of seals hauled out on the beach at Cemaes and plenty in the water as well. Our last trip was a little different as a local man who had passed away had requested his ashes be scattered by Cardigan Island. He was a member of the local rowing club and ideally wanted the clubs Celtic long boats to take his ashes out. Unfortunately it was a little rough for them to travel out over the bar to the Island, so his family came out on Bay Explorer instead.

Corporate Charter
Plenty of seals this evening but no Dolphins unfortunately. This trip was a treat for the managers from a local business and it was kept a surprise. Our passengers all enjoyed themselves after the initial shock of finding out they were going on a boat trip!Posted by : Tony Barber -
